Influences
A few companies in the motion graphics industry that inspire me are Syndrome Studio, Troika and Jayse. Syndrome Studio does a lot of music videos and advertisements for different companies or stores, and I really like their style and aesthetic. They also do some print work that shows in some of their videos. One of their most recent works is a video for T-Pain ft. Lil Wayne called "I Can't Believe It", which can be seen on their website. Troika Design Group is geared a little more towards advertising and graphics for commercial uses, and they are very efficient in what they do. Some familiar work might be the opening to SportsCenter & various aspects of the show like the top ten plays, etc. Jayse does video, web, 3D, illustration, print, etc. and a lot of the work has an art nouveau feel to it, in the sense that the elements are very floral and organic. One of the particular pieces I liked a lot is called "Lavender & Holly".
Proposal: Combining Mediums to Create Motion Graphics
Motion Graphics are graphics that use video, text, or animation to create an illusion of motion or transforming appearance. They can be combined with audio to produce a multimedia project and are usually displayed electronically. The project I intend to produce in the Fall semester of 2008 will focus on creating a music video using motion graphics in Adobe After Effects. I will combine film, photography, text and audio to form an aesthetic/design individual to my style as an artist. The film and photography will be produced by me and will include three to four freestyle dancers shot individually using both full body and close-ups. The text used will incorporate the lyrics into the video with various effects. The video will be about four minutes long and the finished product will be displayed through a projector connected to the computer it is playing on.
